Old fashioned quick bread.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons shortening
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed firmly)
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a 9 inch square pan.
  2. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together. Cream the shortening and sugar together, add eggs one at a time, beat well after each. Alternately add the flour and milk, beating after each.
  3. Pour into the prepared pan. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon and butter and sprinkle on top of the batter. Bake for 25 minutes.
