Sour cream gives this apple pie a creamy texture.
Ingredients
- 3 cups finely chopped apples
- 1 1/8 plus 1/3 cups sugar (divided)
- 2/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons flour (divided)
- 1 1/2 cups sour cream
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 3 teaspoons vanilla
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup butter (half a stick)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Directions
- Mix together 3 tablespoons flour and 1 1/8 cups sugar.
- Add sour cream, beaten eggs, vanilla and salt.
- Beat until smooth.
- Add chopped apples and stir.
- Pour into 9-inch pie crust. Bake 15 minutes in 450 degree F oven. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F and check pie every 5 minutes until firm.
- Remove from oven.
- Combine 2/3 cup flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over pie.
- Return to oven and bake 2 minutes.
