Sour cream gives this apple pie a creamy texture.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups finely chopped apples
  • 1 1/8 plus 1/3 cups sugar (divided)
  • 2/3 cup plus 3 tablespoons flour (divided)
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter (half a stick)
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Mix together 3 tablespoons flour and 1 1/8 cups sugar.
  2. Add sour cream, beaten eggs, vanilla and salt.
  3. Beat until smooth.
  4. Add chopped apples and stir.
  5. Pour into 9-inch pie crust. Bake 15 minutes in 450 degree F oven. Reduce heat to 325 degrees F and check pie every 5 minutes until firm.
  6. Remove from oven.
  7. Combine 2/3 cup flour, 1/3 cup sugar, 1/4 cup butter and 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over pie.
  8. Return to oven and bake 2 minutes.
