You can add ground turkey or beef to this dish for a different flavor.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds dry beans
- 6 cups cold water
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cans tomatoes
- 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 3 tsp. chili powder
- 2 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 tsp. ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
Directions
- Place beans in a bowl and fill with water.
- Soak overnight.
- Drain beans.
- Place beans in a crock pot.
- Pour tomatoes over beans.
- Add all other ingredients.
- Stir gently until will mixed.
- Cover and cook on high for about 2 hours.
- Reduce heat to low and cook for an additonal 8 hours.
