Tired of chickpeas? Try a hummus made with kidney beans. Serve with pita triangles or crackers.


  • 1 (15-ounce) can dark red kidney beans, rinsed
  • Zest and juice of a lemon
  • 1 small garlic clove, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped parsley
  • 1 heaping tablespoon tahini or creamy peanut butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste


  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and puree.
