Making chocolate milk shouldn’t involve squeezing a thick syrup into a glass with milk. Try this homemade version instead and relish its authentic flavor.
- 2 cups whole milk
- 2 ounces bittersweet chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons sucanat
- Place 3/4 cup of milk into a saucepan over low heat. Once it comes to a gentle simmer, add the chocolate, cocoa powder and sucanat and whisk vigorously until all of the chocolate has melted and the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Add the remaining milk to the pan and whisk well to blend. Place the chocolate milk in the refrigerator and chill well prior to serving.
