This spiced coffee cake is sure to hit the spot on a cold, crisp afternoon in late October.

Ingredients

  • 2-1/2 cups flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powdered milk
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup applesauce
  • 2 cups apple, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Combine 2-1/2 cups flour, 1 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon cinnamon, powdered milk, baking soda and salt; set aside.
  2. Cream eggs, pumpkin and applesauce.
  3. Blend flour combination into applesauce mixture.
  4. Fold in apples.
  5. Pour batter into a greased 8x8 baking dish.
  6. Mix together remaining sugar, flour, cinnamon and butter until mixture becomes crumbly; sprinkle over top of cake batter.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
