A delicious award winning coffee cake that is sure to be a hit.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup soft shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour an 8-inch square baking pan.
  2. Cream together the sugar, shortening and egg. Stir in the milk.
  3. Sift the flour, baking powder and salt together into a separate bowl. Gradually add to the liquid mixture, mixing well.
  4. Spread batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with the cinnamon and brown sugar.
  5. Bake for 30 minutes.
