This very simple ‘sour’ cocktail uses maraschino as the sweetener and fresh lime juice as the sour component. The egg white adds some frothy texture, a bit of complexity to the taste and an attractive iridescent glaze.


  • 1-1/2 ounces tequila
  • 3/4 ounce lime juice
  • 1/2 ounce maraschino liqueur
  • 1/2 egg white


  1. Put all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker and vigorously shake for 20 seconds to combine.
  2. Fill the shaker with ice and then shake the mixture for an additional 35 seconds. Strain into a cocktail glass and serve immediately.
