When rimming a cocktail glass, make sure to use fruit juice to dampen the rim and not water because it will make the sugar dissolve instead of adhere to the glass.
Ingredients
- 1/4 teaspoon caster sugar
- 2 ounces grapefruit juice
- 2 ounces gin
- 3/4 ounce dry vermouth
- dash orange bitters
- lemon twist to garnish
- sugar to rim glass
Directions
- Lightly dampen the rim of a cocktail glass with grapefruit juice and then dip the rim into a small plate with sugar to coat.
- Place the caster sugar and the grapefruit juice into a cocktail shaker and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved.
- Put the rest of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into the shaker, fill with ice and then vigorously shake the mixture for 35 seconds.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass, garnish with the lemon twist and serve immediately.
