Just old fashion beans cooked in a crock pot. For a vegetarian style recipe leave out the bacon.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds pinto beans
- 2 bacon strips, cut up
- 1/2 tsp. cumin
- 1 tsp. black pepper
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp. cilantro
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 white onion, chopped
Directions
- Place beans in a bowl of water and soak overnight.
- Drain beans.
- Place beans in a crock pot.
- Add salt,bacon,seasoning and garlic to the crock pot.
- Stir well.
- Add enough water to cover the beans.
- Cover and cook for 5 to 6 hours on high.
- Turn crock pot on low.
- Add tomatoes, onions and cilantro to the crock pot.
- Stir in tomato sauce.
- Cover and cook for another hour or until beans are tender.
