This cocktail, created by Sammy J. Ross, uses Amaro Nonino in it’s a blend, an award-winning grappa with amazing flavor.

Ingredients

3/4 ounce bourbon
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
3/4 ounce Campari
3/4 ounce Amaro Nonino

Directions

Pre-chill a cocktail glass by placing it into the freezer for 5 minutes.
Place all of the ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Vigorously shake the mixture for 35 seconds and then strain into the chilled cocktail glass; serve immediately.

This cocktail is delicious, but not for everyone. Campari and lemon gang up for a bitter and sour combination that tames the sweet Nonino and gives the drink a dry flavor. It's hard to put down, but may surprise anyone thinking this has a sweet flavor profile. Also, the type of bourbon you use will defnitely affect the flavor. The original recipe calls for Buffalo Trace. Finally, shaking for 35 seconds seems a bit long. With enough large ice cubes (5 one-inch cubes are sufficient) you will get enough chill and dilution in half that time, and too much water shed by smaller or not enough ice with longer shake time. It's a great drink though! Awesome photo, too!
