Creamy oyster stew recipe.


  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 pint oysters, with liquid
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon paprika


  1. Place the oysters and the liquid in a saucepan. Boil until the edge of the oysters shrivels and curls. Stir in butter until melted.
  2. Reduce heat to medium, stir in the milk and cream. Add the salt and pepper. Bring to a light boil.
  3. Serve hot with paprika on top.
  4. **If using fresh oysters, use 1 cup of water in place of the canned liquid.**
