Do you like rye bread?  Well, Overnight Rye Bread makes 4 loaves.  That should be enough!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 cups water
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 1 cup sugar
  • caraway seeds, optional
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 4 cups rye flour
  • 8 1/2 cups white flour

Directions

  1. Heat liquid to lukewarm. Add all the other ingredients and knead until it does not stick to floured board. Grease the dough, cover and let rise overnight.
  2. Shape into 4 loaves and let rise to double in bulk. Bake at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
