Old Fashioned Clam Chowder has a creamy base and is full of potatoes.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices bacon, chopped
  • 1 cup onion, sliced
  • 2 cups potatoes, cubed
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 3, 10 ounce cans minced clams
  • 1/2 cup clam liquid
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Directions

  1. Saute onion and bacon until done. Add potatoes, salt, pepper and water. Cook uncovered for 15 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Add more water as needed if liquid evaporates before potatoes are tender. Add clams, clam liquid, cream and butter. Heat 5 minutes. Do not boil. Season to taste.
