Old Fashioned Boiled Custard is homey comfort food that never goes out of style.


  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 3 cups scalded milk
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla


  1. Stir egg yolks, sugar, flour and salt together in top of double boiler. Add scalded milk. Cook over boiling water, stirring constantly until custard thickens slightly.
  2. Remove from heat. Strain and cool slightly. Stir in vanilla.
