Because the taste of the tequila is really allowed to shine in this cocktail, use 100 percent agave tequila for exceptional taste and body.

Place the agave syrup, cherry, orange peel and bitters into a cocktail shaker and muddle well to combine.
Fill the shaker with ice and then add the mezcal and the tequila. Stir the mixture for 40 seconds to chill and then strain into a rocks glass with ice. Serve immediately.
