Make Nutbread with your favorite nuts.  Spread with sweetened cream cheese for a wonderful breakfast treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup nuts, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Sift together dry ingredients and add nuts. Combine egg, applesauce and oil; add to dry ingredients and stir until blended.
  2. Pour mixture into a greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes.
