Norwegian Rice Porridge is a traditional Christmas Eve dish in Norway.


  • 2 1/2 pints milk
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • butter, cinnamon, sugar for garnishing


  1. Rinse rice several times in water; boil the milk and sprinkle rice into it slowly. Allow the porridge to simmer for 1 hour. Add salt. Serve in soup bowls with butter, cinnamon and sugar.
