Traditionally, the Martinez cocktail is made with equal parts of gin and vermouth. However, in this recipe the gin is increased to a ratio of 2:1 to allow its herbal flavor to shine through.
- 2 ounces gin
- 1 ounces sweet vermouth
- 1 dash orange bitters
- 1 dash Angostura bitters
- lemon twist to garnish
- Pre-chill a cocktail glass by placing into the freezer for 5 minutes.
- Pour all of the ingredients, except for the garnish, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Slowly stir the mixture for about 30 seconds and then strain into the prepared glass.
- Garnish the cocktail with the lemon twist and serve immediately.
