This easy cake is perfect for taking to potlucks or sharing with family and friends. It is sweet and moist and can be topped with your choice of icing.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2-1/4 cups sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 6 egg whites

Directions

  1. Mix butter and sugar until creamy.
  2. Combine flour and baking powder, then add to butter mixture with milk.
  3. Stir in almonds and vanilla.
  4. In a separate bowl, add salt to egg whites and beat very stiff.
  5. Fold egg whites into butter mixture.
  6. Bake in 3 cake pans at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
