Can't afford to go to the Kentucky Derby this year? Host your own party and serve this mint julep martinis, a wonderful Southern favorite, served in dainty martini glasses and made with fresh mint leaves. Sip these while you root on your horse, but dont' forget the wide brimmed hat!
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh mint leaves
- 2 cups Kentucky bourbon
Directions
- Combine water, sugar and chopped mint leaves in a small saucepan over high heat; bring to a boil untill the sugar is completely dissolved. Allow syrup to cool for at least one hour.
- Pour into 4 martini glasses filled with ice (crushed is best). Garnish with additional mint leaves and enjoy!
