Mary's Apple Pie is flavored with nutmeg and orange juice.  Way to go, Mary!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups peeled apples
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • 2 unbaked pie shells

Directions

  1. Combine apples with remaining ingredients except pie shells in large bowl, tossing lightly to mix well. Pour into 1 pie shell.
  2. Top pie with top crust or strips of pastry as desired, sprinkling lightly with sugar.
  3. Bake at 450 degrees F for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 325 degrees F. Bake for 45 minutes longer.

Great recipe except for the nutmeg (YUCK). Made it without that horrible spice and it was GREAT!
