These breakfast muffins are not as sweet as most, but the maple flavoring will make them a favorite among many.

Ingredients

  • 1-1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/3 cup maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2/3 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder, salt and pecans.
  3. Cream syrup, butter and egg; mix well.
  4. Add water and vanilla to creamy mixture.
  5. Blend in flour combination.
  6. Pour batter into prepared muffin tin.
  7. Bake at 375 degrees for 12-15 minutes.
