This spiced cake is moist and sweet. Ideal for potlucks or large family gatherings, especially during the holidays.
Ingredients
- 2 cups cake flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3 teaspoons ginger
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup maple syrup
- 1 cup sour cream, divided
- 2 eggs
Directions
- Combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Beat in shortening, brown sugar, syrup and 2/3 cup sour cream.
- Beat in eggs and remaining sour cream.
- Pour batter into two prepared 8-inch round cake pans.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
