Karen's Refrigerator Rolls are versatile and the dough will keep in the refrigerator for 1 week.
Ingredients
- 1 package yeast
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg, beaten
- 6 cups flour
Directions
- Dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup warm water. Stir shortening and sugar with 1-1/2 cups boiling water in a large bowl; cool to lukewarm.
- Add salt, yeast, egg and 2 cups flour, mixing well. Stir in remaining flour to make soft dough. Place dough in oiled tightly covered bowl.
- Chill in refrigerator for 2 hours. Shape into rolls, placing in a greased pan. Let rise until doubled in bulk.
- Bake at 400 degrees to 425 degrees F for 30 minutes.
