Ponzu sauce, made from a blend of soy sauce and citrus, is considered to be the ‘Japanese vinaigrette,’ and is used in cooking and as a dipping sauce.


  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon minced gingerroot
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame oil
  • 1/3 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed orange juice


  1. Place all of the ingredients into a bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine. Use immediately or transfer to a sealed glass jar and store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
