All we know about this brandy-based cocktail is that it was created by Jerry Thomas who never in fact travelled to Asia, or Japan for that matter, thus making the reasoning behind its name a mystery.
- 2 ounces brandy
- 1/2 ounce orgeat syrup
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- Lemon twist to garnish
- Place all of the ingredients, except for the lemon twist, into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
- Slowly stir the mixture for 30 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass.
- Garnish the drink with the lemon zest twist and then serve immediately.
