Hot Water Pie Crust is versatile and great to have on hand in case there's a call for pie.


  • 3 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1/2 cup boiling water


  1. Sift flour, measure, then resift with salt. Add boiling water to shortening and stir quickly to dissolve, then add sifted flour and mix to a stiff dough. Wrap in plastic. Chill at least 30 minutes before using.
