Hot Dog Chowder is flavored with dill and zesty sauerkraut.

Ingredients

  • 2, 16 ounce packages hot dogs, cut up
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 large onions, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 2 cups sauerkraut, drained
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon thyme leaves
  • 2 cans beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh dill, chopped

Directions

  1. In Dutch oven over high heat melt butter. Cook onions and celery until tender; stir in kraut, bay leaf, pepper and thyme and cook 2 minutes. Add broth and simmer over medium-low heat, covered about 15 minutes.
  2. Add hot dogs and cook 10 minutes longer. Serve topped with sour cream and dill.
