The first mention of ‘flip’ mixed drinks stems back to 1685 in England. Make sure you shake this classic concoction very well and serve frothy. 


  • 1-1/2 ounces brandy
  • 1 small egg
  • 1 teaspoon superfine sugar
  • Hot milk
  • Freshly ground nutmeg to garnish


  1. Place the brandy, egg and sugar into a heat-safe glass and beat with a stick blender until smooth.
  2. Fill the glass with hot milk and then garnish with a dusting of freshly ground nutmeg; serve immediately.
