Hong Kong Salad is flavored with bacon, mandarin oranges and a sweet-sour dressing.

Ingredients

  • 2 heads lettuce, shredded
  • 2 cans mandarin oranges, drained
  • 1/2 pound bacon, cooked crisp
  • 1 package almonds, slivered
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • Dressing: 1/3 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons vinegar
  • 2 1/2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon grated onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients, except oil. Heat until sugar is dissolved. Stir; add oil.
  2. Prepare salad bowl; toss dressing with lettuce, oranges, bacon, almonds and onions.
