Honey Nut Pastry is flavored with pecans and walnuts.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds phyllo
- 1 1/2 pounds butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 pound walnuts, chopped
- 1 pound pecans, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- Syrup: 8 cups sugar
- 2 cups honey
- 4 cups water
- cinnamon stick
- juice of 1/2 lemon
Directions
- Combine nuts and spices. Grease a 9 by 13 inch baking pan and line with 5 phyllo layers. Sprinkle with some of the nut mixture and cover with 1 layer of phyllo. Repeat until all nuts are used. Top with 5 layers of phyllo.
- Melt butter and pour over the top. Cut into diamond shaped pieces. Bake at 250 degrees F for 2 hours. Remove from oven and cover with syrup.
- Make syrup by boiling sugar, honey water and cinnamon stick. Remove from heat; add lemon juice.
