You can make this versatile recipe for homemade tortilla chips as nachos, used in a taco salad, or served with sugar and cinnamon.


  • 1/2 package of two day-old tortillas
  • 1-inch of hot oil in iron skillet
  • Salt, to taste


  1. Cut slightly stale tortillas in a pie cut of 8 pieces and separate. With metal tongs, gently place in hot oil; turn when light tan; remove after both sides are tanned.
  2. Drain on paper towel; be sure to keep apart when draining oil.
