What a treat! Homemade Chocolate Doughnuts for a special breakfast.
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons shortening, melted
- 1 1/2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 eggs
- 3 cups flour
Directions
- Combine all ingredients except 1 1/2 cups flour in bowl, beating until smooth with mixer at low speed. Increase speed and beat for 1 minute longer. Stir in remaining flour to make soft dough. Chill for 1 hour.
- Roll out 1/2 inch thick on well-floured surface. Cut with floured doughnut cutter. Deep fry at 370 degrees F.
