Herbed Toast is a wonderful way to use day old bread slices.


  • 8 slices white bread
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon savory
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds, crushed


  1. Cut off crusts. Arrange slices on cookie sheet.
  2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In small saucepan over medium heat, heat butter, savory and fennel seeds until butter melts. Brush bread slices with butter mixture; bake 15 minutes or golden on both side, turning bread slices once.
