Grits Gruyere will be a  hit at the brunch or serve as a side dish at your next dinner party.


  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 stick butter
  • 1 cup grits
  • Topping: 16 ounces Gruyere cheese, shredded
  • 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese


  1. Bring milk and butter to boil; add grits and stir until thick, about 5 minutes. Pour into a greased casserole and let sit for 5 minutes. Poke with a fork to let topping seep in.
  2. Make topping: Sprinkle Gruyere over grits. Pour melted butter over cheese. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and bake at 350 degrees F for 30 minutes or until brown and bubbly.
