Great for breakfast, Golden Country Biscuits are tender and flaky; perfect for lots of honey and butter.

  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup golden raisins
  • 1 egg, beaten

  1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In medium bowl with fork, mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. With fork, stir in milk and raisins just until mixture forms soft dough and leaves side of bowl.
  3. On lightly floured surface with lightly floured hands, knead dough 10 times. Divide dough into eight equal pieces; lightly shape each piece into a ball. Place biscuits, about 1/2 inch apart, on large cookie sheet. Brush biscuits with egg. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
