Great for breakfast, Golden Country Biscuits are tender and flaky; perfect for lots of honey and butter.
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 2/3 cup milk
- 1/2 cup golden raisins
- 1 egg, beaten
Directions
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F. In medium bowl with fork, mix flour, baking powder, sugar and salt. With pastry blender, cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- With fork, stir in milk and raisins just until mixture forms soft dough and leaves side of bowl.
- On lightly floured surface with lightly floured hands, knead dough 10 times. Divide dough into eight equal pieces; lightly shape each piece into a ball. Place biscuits, about 1/2 inch apart, on large cookie sheet. Brush biscuits with egg. Bake 10 to 12 minutes until golden.
