These biscuits have a zesty kick of lemon to them!
Ingredients
- 3 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon lemon peel
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 envelope dry yeast
- 1 cup milk
Directions
- Sift first 5 ingredients into bowl. Cut in shortening until crumbly. Soften yeast in 3 tablespoons warm water. Combine yeast and milk and add to flour mixture. Knead on floured surface until smooth.
- Roll out 5/8 inch thick; cut with biscuit cutter. Let rise, on baking sheet, for 20 minutes. Bake at 450 degrees F for 10 minutes or until golden. Brush tops with melted butter.
