Homemade gingerbread from scratch.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3 tablespoons shortening
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare an 8 inch square pan.
  2. Sift the flour, then add in the baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
  3. Mix together the molasses and water. Cream together the shortening and sugar, add in the eggs.
  4. Alternately beat together the ingredients until smooth. Pour into the pan.
  5. Bake for 35 minutes.
