Homemade gingerbread from scratch.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup water
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 5 tablespoons sugar
- 2 eggs
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Prepare an 8 inch square pan.
- Sift the flour, then add in the baking powder, soda, salt and spices.
- Mix together the molasses and water. Cream together the shortening and sugar, add in the eggs.
- Alternately beat together the ingredients until smooth. Pour into the pan.
- Bake for 35 minutes.
