  • Total: 25 min
  • Serving: Makes about 1 cup

Use freshly sliced ginger for this ginger syrup, not the powdered kind, in order to obtain a more intense taste and aroma.

  • 1-1/2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup thinly sliced fresh ginger, unpeeled

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a saucepan over medium high heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure all of the sugar has dissolved, and then remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Let the mixture steep for 15 minutes and then strain into a jar. Tightly cap the container and store the syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use.
