Use freshly sliced ginger for this ginger syrup, not the powdered kind, in order to obtain a more intense taste and aroma.
Ingredients
- 1-1/2 cups water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup thinly sliced fresh ginger, unpeeled
Directions
- Place all of the ingredients into a saucepan over medium high heat and bring to a boil. Cook for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to ensure all of the sugar has dissolved, and then remove the pan from the heat.
- Let the mixture steep for 15 minutes and then strain into a jar. Tightly cap the container and store the syrup in the refrigerator until ready to use.
