Ginger Rabbit Cocktail

To add another level of depth and flavor to this complex cocktail, use a simple syrup infused with black tea or star anise.


  • 1 barspoon simple syrup
  • 1 slice fresh ginger
  • 1 strip lemon peel
  • 2 ounces bourbon
  • 1 barspoon Crème Yvette
  • 1 dash bitters
  • lemon peel twist to garnish


  1. Place the simple syrup and ginger into a cocktail shaker and then twist the lemon peel over the drink to release its natural oils; drop the peel into the shaker.
  2. Muddle the mixture well and then add the bourbon, Crème Yvette and bitters.
  3. Slowly stir the mixture for 30 seconds and then strain into a cocktail glass filled with fresh ice.
  4. Garnish the drink with the lemon zest twist and then serve immediately.
