Ginger Molasses Cookies are cut out with cookie cutters.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups flour sifted
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 1/4 teaspoons ginger
- 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/4 cup molasses
- 2 teaspoons grated orange rind
Directions
- Sift together the first six ingredients. Cream butter and sugar until fluffy. Beat in unbeaten egg. Stir in molasses and orange rind. Blend in dry ingredients. Chill overnight.
- Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured board. Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes.
