Serve these clams on a bed of rice.

Ingredients

  • 1 quart clams, drained
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/2 cup oil

Directions

  1. Drain clams.
  2. Combine egg, milk and seasonings.
  3. Dip clams in egg mixture and roll in crumbs.
  4. Place clams in a heavy frying pan which contains about 1/8 inch of hot oil.
  5. Fry at moderate heat.
  6. When clams are brown on one side, turn carefully and brown the other side for 5 to 8 minutes.
  7. Drain on absorbent paper.
  8. Serve
