Ingredients

  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon shortening
  • 3/4 cup water
  • Oil for deep frying

Directions

  1. Combine all the dry ingredients.
  2. Mix in the shortening and water, mix well.
  3. Shape into six equal balls. Take a ball and roll out to 1/8 inch thickness. Cut into wedges. Repeat with the other 5.
  4. Fry in the hot oil at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, until they are puffy and brown.
