Adding ruby-red grapefruit to a classic salsa gives it an enjoyable citrusy twist of flavor and an even fresher taste.

  • 1/2 large ruby-red grapefruit, deseeded, peeled and separated into wedges
  • 3 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1 ripe avocado, peeled, pitted and diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 red onion, diced into 1/2-inch cubes
  • 1/2 teaspoon jalapeño pepper, finely minced
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
  • salt and fresh pepper, to taste

  1. Place all of the ingredients into a non-reactive glass bowl and toss well to combine. Cover the bowl and place in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours to allow the flavors to blend and the ingredients to marinate.
