This luscious fresh blueberry sauce is just amazing drizzled warm over a bowl of real vanilla bean ice cream. Use fresh blueberries if in season, otherwise frozen work just as well.


  • 1 pound blueberries
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • pinch of salt


  1. Place the blueberries and the sugar into a saucepan over medium heat, and cook for 6 minutes. Take the pan off the heat and transfer 1/2 cup of the cooked blueberries to a blender; process well until smooth.
  2. Pour the pureed blueberries back into the saucepan and then stir in the lemon juice and then salt. Mix well to blend and then serve immediately.
