Use the fresh berries of your choice for this colorful and hearty breakfast meal made with a rye berry-base.
Ingredients
- 3 cups water
- 3/4 cup rye berries
- 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
- 1 cup berries
- 1 tablespoon sweet cream butter
- Fresh cream to top
Directions
- Place the rye berries and the water in a large saucepan and bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Add the almonds and the berries to the pan and simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Transfer the mixture to a bowl, add the butter and stir briefly to blend. Serve topped with a swirl of fresh cream.
