Adding fresh basil, shredded lemon peel and freshly squeezed lemon juice to mayonnaise gives this classic condiment intense flavor and a citrusy bite.
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- Peel from 1/2 lemon, finely shredded
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup snipped fresh basil or 2 tablespoon snipped fresh dill
- Put the lemon juice, finely shredded lemon peel, mayonnaise and fresh basil into a bowl and mix until thoroughly blended.
- Add a few pinches of salt and pepper to taste and then mix once again before serving.
