French Toast with Cheese make a delicious brunch dish or snack.

Ingredients

  • Egg mixture: 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 slices thick white bread
  • Sauce: 1/2 pound Cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter, softened
  • generous dash of cayenne

Directions

  1. Combine eggs, salt, milk and vanilla in a pie plate; mix thoroughly. Dip bread slices into mixture. Place bread on a greased baking sheet; bake at 350 degrees F for 5 minutes.
  2. Spread sauce mixture on each slice and bake an additional 5 minutes or until lightly brown.
