Flaming Rum Sauce will add drama to any dinner party.  Serve over vanilla ice cream or slices of apple pie.


  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 lemon wedge
  • 1 orange wedge
  • 1/2 cup dark rum


  1. In small saucepan, combine sugars with 1 cup water; cook over medium heat, stirring, until sugars are dissolved.
  2. Add lemon and orange wedges; bring to boiling; boil, uncovered, 20 minutes. Discard fruit.
  3. Just before serving, add rum; heat over very low heat just until vapor rises. Remove from heat. Ignite with match and take flaming sauce to the table. Spoon over ice cream or pie slices.
